Springfield on Wikipedia

An amazing reference site on the Internet is Wikipedia, an "open source" encyclopedia that relies on users all over the world to write and edit its articles. Wikipedia operates on the belief that everyone knows something and that anyone may correct errors and improve prose. That may sound a little reckless, but for the most part the entries are full, detailed, and accurate.

For example, take a look at the entry on Springfield, Illinois. It presents all the basic facts, offers a survey of history, recognizes the famous buildings and citizens, and even alludes to the horseshoe and cozy-dog (but not Maid-Rite or Steak 'n Shake). At the end appear a series of links to maps and web sites, including our very own Iles House blog!
